Biography

Andreas Rowald, PhD, is an associate professor of Digital Health at the Department of Medical Informatics, Biometry, and Epidemiology. He earned his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, focusing on the development of computational frameworks for personalized neurotechnologies with the aim to restore neurological function after spinal cord injury.

In 2021, Dr. Rowald joined Friedrich Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg to lead the ProModell junior research group of the MIRACUM consortium, part of the BMBF-funded Medical Informatics Initiative. His research centers on developing digital twin and machine learning approaches for neuroscience research, therapy development, and clinical decision support for biomedical solutions to neurological, psychiatric, and multi-organ disorders.
